1. Agreement and responsible party

These Terms of Use are between you and the developer or legal entity identified as Milelight’s seller on its App Store product page (“Milelight,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, buying, accessing, or using the app or this website, you agree to these terms and Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (“Apple Standard EULA”).

If these terms conflict with the Apple Standard EULA, the Apple Standard EULA controls your license to the app. If you do not agree, do not use Milelight.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these terms. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, use Milelight only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who accepts these terms. Milelight is not offered as a children’s app.

3. License and service

Subject to these terms and the Apple Standard EULA, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Milelight on Apple-branded devices you own or control as permitted by Apple’s usage rules.

Milelight helps you record, classify, review, edit, and export mileage information. Features include manually started GPS recording, manual trip entry, optional Auto Track, local trip history, insights, Apple Maps route displays, CSV export, and weekly, monthly, and yearly PDF reports.

Milelight is not a navigation, emergency, dispatch, payroll, reimbursement-processing, or tax-filing service.

4. Permissions and feature requirements

GPS route recording requires Precise Location access. You can enter mileage manually without location permission. Auto Track is optional and requires Always and Precise Location, Motion & Fitness, and Background App Refresh. Notifications and Live Activities are optional. You can decline or revoke permissions, but related features may be unavailable or less accurate.

If working hours are enabled, automatic trip recording is limited to your schedule. When the app next runs outside those hours, it asks iOS to stop its automatic location and motion monitors. While the app is suspended, iOS may deliver a low-power location signal before it can pause; the app does not use that signal for trip recording or departure updates. iOS may not wake the app at the next work period; open Milelight then to ensure detection resumes. Turning working hours off removes this schedule limit. Manually started GPS recordings are not limited to working hours.

Features may also depend on compatible iPhone hardware, iOS, network access, GPS conditions, Apple Maps, and the App Store. Milelight cannot guarantee uninterrupted detection, complete routes, exact place labels, or continuous availability.

Locking the phone or switching apps is different from force-closing Milelight. After you swipe the app away, iOS can block background relaunch until you open it manually. Milelight cannot override that restriction or reconstruct GPS mileage that was not recorded. Available interrupted-trip checkpoints can be reviewed on reopening.

5. Three-day trial and Milelight Pro

Eligible new subscribers can choose a weekly or annual plan and confirm a three-day free introductory trial with Apple. No trial or subscription begins simply by opening Milelight or selecting a plan. Apple determines eligibility and permits one introductory offer per subscription group. Switching between Milelight plans, reinstalling the app, or deleting trips does not create a new introductory offer. This replaces the earlier three-drive allowance.

An active trial or Milelight Pro subscription is required for new automatic recording, manual recording, and manual entries. There is no three-trip limit during an active trial or subscription. When access ends, new recording stops being available; a drive already recording may finish. Previously captured detected drives remain available to review and save. Existing trip history, editing, deletion, insights, and exports remain available without Pro.

6. Subscription billing, renewal, and cancellation

Milelight may offer weekly and yearly auto-renewing plans. The product name, billing period, current price, currency, and any offer are displayed by Apple before you confirm a purchase. For an eligible free trial, there is no subscription charge during the three-day trial; the selected paid plan begins automatically afterward unless canceled. Without an eligible trial, payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation.

Cancel a free trial at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid renewal. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple may charge the renewal within 24 hours before that period ends. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation stops future renewal; a canceled free trial may end immediately. Access ordinarily continues through the paid period unless Apple refunds, revokes, or otherwise adjusts the purchase.

Purchase completion, billing, cancellation, price changes, refunds, and storefront availability are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms and applicable law. You can use Restore Purchases in Milelight while signed in to the Apple Account that made the purchase.

7. Your records and responsibility for accuracy

You are responsible for starting and stopping recordings, reviewing detected drives and recorded routes, correcting editable trip details and place labels, selecting an appropriate category and entering the actual trip purpose (such as a specific client meeting), checking distances and dates, and confirming all information before relying on or sharing it.

GPS, motion detection, reverse geocoding, background execution, manual entry, and device settings can produce incomplete, delayed, duplicated, or inaccurate records. Keep any additional documentation required by your employer, tax authority, insurer, client, or applicable law.

Device loss, app deletion, device reset, storage failure, disabled permissions, operating-system restrictions, or interrupted recording can result in incomplete or lost records. Export records you are required to retain and keep appropriate independent copies.

8. Estimates and professional advice

Mileage rates, work estimates, possible reimbursements, deductions, and report summaries are informational tools only. Rates and eligibility can vary by year, jurisdiction, employer, vehicle, trip purpose, and personal circumstances.

Published U.S. mileage rates are versioned by date and category in the installed app. Dates without a known published rate show an unavailable estimate unless you enter a custom rate. An app update may be needed for newly announced rates. Changing a trip’s date recalculates a standard rate; a custom rate remains your responsibility. Verify the official rate and your eligibility.

A category such as Business is not a specific business purpose. Reports list these separately and flag missing purposes or destinations. The recordkeeping check only checks for entered details; it does not certify that a record is accurate, complete for your situation, IRS-approved, or eligible for a deduction.

Milelight is not an official government form and does not provide tax, legal, accounting, financial, medical, insurance, or employment advice. It does not guarantee any deduction, reimbursement, payment, audit outcome, or legal compliance. Confirm current rules and consult a qualified professional when appropriate.

9. Safe and lawful use

Do not hold, configure, review, or otherwise interact with Milelight while operating a vehicle. Start, stop, edit, or review a trip only when it is safe and lawful. Never allow the app, notifications, or a suspected recording issue to distract you from driving.

You are responsible for obeying traffic, distracted-driving, workplace, reimbursement, privacy, recordkeeping, and tax laws that apply to you.

10. Local storage, exports, and backups

Milelight does not operate an account or cloud-sync service. You are responsible for protecting your device, maintaining any backups you need, and deciding where exports are sent. Removing the app can remove local data, subject to Apple device backups.

Once you export or share a PDF or CSV file, you are responsible for the recipient, storage location, access permissions, and protection of that copy.

11. Acceptable use

You may not misuse Milelight, interfere with its operation, attempt to defeat purchase or entitlement controls, reverse engineer it except where law expressly permits, use it to violate another person’s rights, submit unlawful or abusive support content, or use the app or website in violation of applicable law.

12. Apple and other third-party services

Apple Maps, StoreKit, the App Store, iOS permissions, device backups, and destinations available through the share sheet are operated by Apple or other third parties. Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services. Milelight is not responsible for third-party services outside its control.

Apple is not responsible for maintaining or supporting Milelight except as stated in the Apple Standard EULA.

13. Ownership and feedback

Milelight, including its software, design, branding, and original content, is owned by its developer or licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership to you.

If you voluntarily provide product feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.

14. Privacy

The Milelight Privacy Policy explains the app’s on-device data, location and motion processing, Apple services, exports, website hosting, support submissions, retention, deletion, and your choices.

15. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law and subject to the Apple Standard EULA, Milelight is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement where those warranties may lawfully be disclaimed.

Nothing in these terms limits any warranty, consumer protection, or other right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Milelight’s developer and licensors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, lost or inaccurate records, missed deductions or reimbursements, or business interruption arising from Milelight or your reliance on its output.

This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law. The Apple Standard EULA and mandatory consumer law also govern available remedies.

17. Suspension and termination

Your right to use Milelight ends if you materially violate these terms or the Apple Standard EULA. You may stop using the app at any time. Ending use does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription; cancellation must be completed through Apple.

18. Changes, governing terms, and contact

We may update Milelight or these terms as the product, law, or App Store requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Changes apply prospectively when posted, except where notice or consent is required by law.

Governing-law and venue provisions are addressed by the Apple Standard EULA, subject to mandatory law where you live. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply.
