1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Milelight iPhone app and the Milelight website. In this policy, “Milelight,” “we,” and “us” refer to the Milelight app and its operator.
2. Information stored by the app
Milelight stores your mileage records on your device using Apple’s local storage technologies. A record may include the trip date and time, duration, distance, purpose category, business purpose, notes, place labels, endpoint coordinates, and the GPS points that make up a recorded route.
App preferences—including working hours, automatic-detection and notification choices, report details, and the device-local count of included drives—also stay on your device. Milelight does not operate an account, cloud-sync service, analytics system, advertising system, or custom server that receives your trip log.
3. Location, routes, and motion
When you start a drive, Milelight uses location to measure distance and record the route until you stop. If you separately enable Auto Track, background location and Motion & Fitness activity help recognize drives even when Milelight is not open. Auto Track requires Always and Precise Location, Motion & Fitness, and Background App Refresh.
Motion activity is evaluated on your device to help distinguish driving from walking. It is not uploaded or saved in your trip log. Detected drives and routes wait on your device for review and do not enter your saved log or reports until you approve them.
4. Apple services
Milelight uses Apple Maps to display maps and turn endpoint coordinates into readable place names. Apple therefore receives endpoint coordinates for place lookup and map-area requests when maps are displayed. Apple handles that information under its own privacy policy.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Milelight reads verified transaction and entitlement information to enable Milelight Pro, but does not receive your payment-card details. Depending on your Apple settings, device backups may include local Milelight data. Milelight does not operate a separate backup or sync service.
Read Apple’s Privacy Policy5. Reports and sharing
PDF and CSV reports are created from your local records. They leave Milelight only when you use the iPhone share sheet or another export action. You choose the recipient or service. Any copies you send, save elsewhere, or include in a backup are then managed by you and the service that receives them.
6. Website support requests
If you use the support form on this website, we receive the name you provide, your email address, your selected topic, and your message so we can investigate and respond. Do not include full GPS routes, payment-card details, tax documents, or other sensitive information in a support request.
The form is processed by Netlify, our website hosting provider. Support submissions are used only to answer the request, maintain service quality, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. They are retained only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes.
Read Netlify’s Privacy Statement7. Retention and deletion
Saved trips remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. You can delete individual saved trips from the Trips tab and discard detected drives during review. Removing Milelight removes its local data from that device, subject to copies already included in device backups or exported elsewhere.
Milelight has no user account to deactivate or delete. Deleting a trip does not reset the separate device-local allowance for the three included drives.
8. Your choices
Auto Track can be turned off in Milelight at any time. Location, Motion & Fitness, Background App Refresh, Live Activities, and notification access can also be reviewed or revoked in iPhone Settings. Some features will not work without the permissions they need.
To ask about a support submission or request its deletion, use the support form with the same email address you originally provided.
9. Security
Milelight relies on iOS protections and uses protected local files for active-drive recovery and automatically detected drives. No system can guarantee absolute security, so protect your device and review what you include before sharing a report.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Milelight changes. The effective date above will change when we publish a revision. Material changes will be explained where appropriate.
